On Wednesday, New York Fashion Week culminated with LUAR, the last show on the official schedule. Designer Raul Lopez invited guests to Greenpoint in Brooklyn to contemporary art space Faurschou gallery to witness his highly-anticipated show coming off last year’s CFDA fashion award win for American Accessory Design.
He worked his signature codes beautifully: tech jackets, bold shoulders, deconstructed suiting made into gowns and polo shirts, subverted tailoring reinterpreted into covetable coats and trousers, LUAR logo knitwear, and fur jackets—a favorite the designer has never shied away from—in collaboration with Saga Furs.
Community is a pillar of the brand’s design, and the energy was palpable in the crowd as they screamed, cheered, and clapped while models stormed the catwalk—some in Stuart Weitzman shoes designed by Edmundo Castillo. It’s a CFDA member-to-member moment that will remain a season highlight for us.
