Fashion mainstream hits the New York Fashion Week: Women’s runway! Kohl’s announced that it will unveil the LC Lauren Conrad Runway Collection, an exclusive, limited-edition capsule by Lauren Conrad on Wednesday, September 9. Fashion fans of Lauren Conrad will have a front row seat to her collection for Kohl’s via a shoppable livestream on LCRunway.com. The livestream will feature a special peek at the red carpet, catwalk and behind-the-scenes access, as well as offer viewers the opportunity to purchase pieces from the collection online immediately following the show.
We sat down with the designer and asked her to discuss the inspiration behind her first ever runway show!
CFDA.com: What was your Inspiration behind the S/S 2016 collection?
Lauren Conrad: “One of the main inspirations behind this line was the forest. Both the color palette and prints have a woodlands feel to them. In the collection these elements are juxtaposed with tailored pieced and rose gold sequins. I really wanted this collection to come across as romantic and polished, but still a little bohemian.”
CFDA.com: What do you always keep in mind when designing your collection for Kohl’s?
L.C.: “I always like to consider the girl who buys the collection and her lifestyle. What occasions are we dressing her for? What pieces is she hunting for each season? What can we surprise her with?”
CFDA.com: How does it feel to prepare for your first runway show?
L.C.: “I am so excited to be showing at NYFW for the first time! It probably won’t really set in until after it’s happened. I feel so honored to be in such great company. I’m still pinching myself.”
CFDA.com: What show(s) are you excited to see and support during NYFW?
LC: “I am actually leaving town after my show to celebrate my first wedding anniversary, but I will be sending my amazing team from Laurenconrad.com to cover shows for the site. They’ll be going backstage, and watching shows, at Rebecca Minkoff, Kate Spade, Nicole Miller, Tibi, Mara Hoffman, Alexander Wang and more.”
CFDA.com: Do you have a personal favorite NYFW moment?
L.C.: “Fashion week is always an blur and I only attend every couple years because of this, but when I do there is always a moment in at least one of the shows when everything stops and I fall in love with clothes all over again. When the right collection is perfectly styled and the show is beautifully produced it’s just magic. There’s nothing quite like it.”
