The 2.0 cohort for the Elaine Gold Launch Pad met Tuesday morning at Camp David in Industry City, Brooklyn for the program’s first kick-off meeting.
We caught up with the six fellows from five brands in a series of rapid fire questions.
Get to know who they are below and check back as they embark on their 23-week residency.
ANGELA LUNA, ADIFF
What song or artist are you currently listening to right now?
Cardi B, specifically Be Careful. It’s my anthem for anyone who pisses me off.
What are some of your favorite Instagrams to follow?
@manrepeller always. She’s influenced my personal style over the years and I’ve become a lot more adventurous. I say that as I’m wearing all black.
What’s something you think everyone should do at least once?
Travel cross country, especially drive. There’s a lot to see.
What are you most excited about being in the Elaine Gold Launch Pad program?
I’m looking forward to meeting the people. I find that I get the most out of learning from my fellow cohorts, and meeting my mentors! I just want to listen, and learn the stories of everyone.
ASHLEY CIMONE & MOYA ANNECE, ASHYA
Who are your style icons?
Ashley: Moya
Moya: I’m just gonna say Ashley, too! And I mean that genuinely. We used to share a lot of clothes.
If you could have someone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Moya: Bob Marley. I’m from Jamaica and I’d love to learn more about my history. He seems like he was that prominent person that can tell me what was going on during the early 50s, 60s and 70s.
Ashley: I would say Oprah. She’s one of my biggest role models. I’m inspired by her tenacity and everything she’s done with her career.
What’s the farthest you’ve both ever been from home?
Moya: I think South Africa.
Ashley: No, it would be India.
Moya: Is India further than South Africa?
Ashley: It is, I think. Let’s go with Goa, India!
Moya: In South Africa we went to Cape Town, Johannesburg, Eastern Cape, Durban.
How do you like to relax after a long day of work?
Ashley: I like to box at the gym. It’s a good release. My new thing is getting my nails done.
Moya: I’m an avid runner, but that starts my day. I like to end with something mindless, like watching TV. My brain is on overdrive the entire time problem solving, so I just need to not do anything to decompress.
What are you most excited about being in the Elaine Gold Launch Pad program?
Moya: The growth and the mentorship. I’ve always yearned for a mentor in every aspect of my life. It’s important to have someone guide you in the right direction, and I’m really eager to make that connection with someone.
Ashley: I’m excited to see how far this program can push us as creatives and as entrepreneurs. Moya and I have a similar ambition, that’s why we have a brand together. I believe in us, and I think that EGLP is going to push us to the next phase of our success.
