In time for NYFW: Bridal, we posed three questions for Eva Zuckerman of Eva Fehren, who just launched a new bridal jewelry collection, Eva Fehren White. Tis’ the season!
What is Eva Fehren White?
Eva Fehren White is our collection of engagement rings and wedding bands. Each piece is handcrafted in New York City from platinum, 18k gold, and diamonds. I wanted to create a refined, yet edgy solution for the modern bride that reflects her personal sense of style, offering designs that are both timeless and innovative.
What’s the story behind the first engagement ring you designed?
The first piece in the collection was the Premiér. I am endlessly in love with hexagons, and i wanted to create a strong, geometric setting that felt sharp, modern and timeless. We create the Premiér with grey or white diamonds, in blackened or in white platinum. Underneath the setting, there is a structural framework created by X’s, inspired by architectural details that inform my entire line. With this ring, it was important to me that there was a balance of both masculine and feminine details, so the ring felt sexy, strong, and elegant rather than overly frilly. The Premiér also stacks perfectly with our classic pieces, the Shorty and the Sergeant, so you can easily keep adding to your stack, and evolving the way you wear your rings.
What was the inspiration behind this season’s Eva Fehren White collection?
This season I was incredibly inspired by non-traditional, geometric cut diamonds. I used a lot of portrait cut diamonds – diamonds that are flat cut and often resemble a delicate sheet of glass, but still have the strength and beauty of a diamond. There has always been something rebellious to me about using a diamond that is more understated and non-traditional in an engagement ring. I love a stone that sparkles brilliantly, but is more beautiful because of its interesting structure and form. I think today’s bride is looking for pieces that reflect her personal style rather than just assigning value to the ring based on a diamond’s cut, carat weight, clarity and color. For me, it’s about the design of the piece and how that reflects the woman wearing it and the personalities of the couple.
