The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund’s annual Design Challenge is a critical moment in the program that helps who will take home the prize on Nov.4.
Tonight, the ten 2019 CVFF finalists will present the results of this year’s Design Challenge to a formidable force of judges, including Anna Wintour and Paloma Elsesser.
Sustainability is the focus of this year’s challenge. Presented by Zara, each designer was tasked with buying one vintage piece that speaks to them. They then created a look by designing new pieces made out of sustainable fabrics donated by Zara to go with the vintage find.
Fostering sustainability in fashion has become a focus for Zara. The retail chain is developing sustainable programs at each stage of the product life cycle. For its Join Life label, Zara zeros in on garments created in sustainable ways and with raw materials. The fabrics for the Design Challenge all meet the Join Life standard.
Expect the designers to arrive arm in arm with their chosen muses at The Well, a modern membership-based wellness club designed for busy urban professionals in New York City, where the judging and subsequent cocktail party will take place.
From models to musicians, here’s a sneak peek at the finalists and their muses:
