Chloe Gosselin and Diane von Furstenberg first met around this time three years ago. Gosselin, an emerging shoe designer, was a finalist for the 2016 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, and von Furstenberg was a judge. “She has lived in Belgium, and I am Belgium, so we became fast friends!” von Furstenberg recalled.
Since then, Gosselin has forged a special friendship with the former CFDA Chairwoman. “She’s someone very special in my life. She’s always been so supportive and such an amazing mentor. Her work, her philanthropy…we connect on all those levels,” said Gosselin. “Beyond work, it’s also just who she is as a person. She is someone who genuinely wants to help people, to bring women together and help women be in charge. I feel very blessed.”
Von Furstenberg returned the love by giving Gosselin a temporary residency at her flagship store in the Meatpacking District. “Over lunch a couple of months ago, she told me ‘I want to help you and I want you to thrive,’” Gosselin explained. “She came up with the idea to do this pop-up and gave me half of her store.”
The store includes a selection of footwear from Gosselin’s collections from Spring through Pre-Fall 2019 – including her latest collaboration with fellow CVFF Alum Morgan Lane.
Last night, the female entrepreneurs celebrated the opening amongst friends and family, with guests including Derek Blasberg, Nausheen Shah, Ezra J. William, and Alejandra Alonso Rojas.
