#MeToo. The past year was marked by the bravery of women – and men – who came forward to shed light to the culture of sexual harassment and assault that has permeated the workplace from entertainment to politics and fashion for decades.
The well-being of models is at the core of our CFDA’s Health Initiative, which launched in 2007 with an initial focus on eating disorders. In the past few weeks, models have brought awareness to sexual harassment in fashion. As the governing body of American fashion, it was important for us to provide information to help the women and men who have experienced abuse at work. To that end, CFDA updated its Health Initiative with information and resources provided by the Model Alliance in October.
The CFDA firmly believes that everyone in our industry deserves the right to feel safe and respected. We have zero tolerance for unsafe environments and strongly encourage models to report abuse in the workplace.
