Amsale Fall 2020 Bridal

For Fall 2020 Bridal, Margo Lafontaine took a departure from the traditional runway format, and instead opened up the entire world of Amsale. That meant unveiling all five of the brand’s bridal collections exhibition-style, with a comprehensive showcase that took over midtown’s Metropolitan West. The location was so expansive that guests were actually given a map upon entry –all the better to navigate the details up close and personal.

As fate would have it, Lafontaine was inspired by a recent exploration of her own. This summer, she traveled to the Greek islands where she attended not one but two weddings with dress codes that felt miles away from each other (black tie versus beach front). Packing woes aside, it got her thinking about clothes with convertibility. Long story short, this season’s brides will be delighted to find a few more ways to switch things up with the same classic Amsale aesthetic. “The future of Amsale is about offering solutions for modern brides,” Lafontaine said. “We want them to be able to come to us and find the perfect wardrobe for all of their wedding needs.”

Detachable details managed to completely transform several looks without the hassle (or expense) of changing—ideal for destination weddings or those who just want a change of scenery at the reception. Instead of a veil, Lafontaine whipped up a strapless gown with a removable tulle train that brides can wear down the aisle, then lose for dancing. Another sweetheart dress came with an off-the-shoulder cape of chiffon organza that doubled as a train. It was ladylike, but also a lot of fun.

Better still, the core bridal collection was presented alongside a debut line of eveningwear designed to outfit everyone in the bridal party—maybe even a few well-dressed guests, too. It will prove to not only be good for aesthetics, but also for business, as Amsale makes coordinating with your bridesmaids a seamless experience in look and feel.
