Amsale Bridal Fall-Winter 2019

Amsale presented a glamorous new bridal collection on Friday. One familiar face noticeably missing though: Mrs. Amsale Aberra herself, who passed away at the age of 64 last April. The brand is in good hands with new creative director Margo Lafontaine, who successfully interpreted Amsale house codes for a modern era.

On the runway, the dresses still recalled a simpler time, but with no less sartorial drama. The dresses were noticeably stripped of decorative appliqués, save for the occasional statement bow, twinkling tonal embroidery, or sheer illusion neckline à la Amsale. Meanwhile, deceptively understated draped crepe sheath dresses that appeared were all rife with a raw new sensuality.

A clear standout was a ballgown edged in Lyon lace. The rare blend maintains its exclusive appeal thanks to a limited production rate comprised of just three locations, all based in Lyons, France. The swirling scalloped detail seemed to lift off the dress, resulting in more than a few double takes.
