Altuzarra Fall-Winter 2023

February 16, 2023

At its best, fashion is magical, casting a spell that has us dreaming. Designers possess the unique ability to create work that transforms the everyday experience of the individual, a notion Joseph Altuzarra understands. The designer leaned into the supernatural this season with a collection that merged mystical and real. Drawing inspiration from Charlotte Higgins’ Greek Myths: A New Retelling, where myths are narrated through the view of female protagonists, each look told a through via unique prints and textiles. Amorphous artworks that embody Rorschach tests and Shibori landscapes were displayed via tie-dye abstract prints, and botanical prints were hand-painted on garments. Altuzarra always offers terrific outerwear and this season was no different – with bold, couture-like coats and jackets with dramatic peplums and oversized collars. Presented under the stained-glass dome of the New York Public Library, Altuzarra’s collection was dreamy – a New York Fashion Week standout.
