Details from the 10 Corso Como store.
Nearly three decades after fashion editor and publisher Carla Sozzani opened 10 Corso Como , the iconic Italian concept store has officially opened its first store in the United States.
The space occupies over 28,000 square feet across the first floor of the Fulton Market Building in the historic Seaport District – a surprising choice for the high-end conceptual store.
Sozzani enlisted longtime collaborator Kris Ruhs to create the impeccably-crafted store, which embodies the Corso Como ethos while adopting an aesthetic true to New York. Sozzani curated the merchandise mix with her discerning eye, picking fashion, home décor, books, art, and more to sit alongside a chic café, restaurant, and gallery space.
“The world we live in today is so connected internationally – people from all over the are communicating in ways they never did before and the flow of information is so quick and constant,” said Sozzani. “I think this means you can’t really talk about style or fashion from a specific country. It’s more defined by vision, personality, and inspiration than geography.”
That said, consumers will find a strong presence of American fashion designers here, including Sies Marjan and Eckhaus Latta, which Sozzani considers part of the future of the industry. You can expect more American brands in the future. As she noted, “We are looking forward to doing more joint collaborations with American brands!”
