Banana Sylk

Overview

From Sustainable Textile Supply Chain

Wholesale silk-grade Banana Sylk fabric made from 100% pure banana plant stem. This natural textile is sourced from inside of the banana stem, the softest part of the plant. Luxuriously soft, more breathable, durable, less water-consumptive and non-toxic; Banana Sylk is biodegradable plus more sustainable and Eco than other natural fiber such as organic cotton, hemp and bamboo.

This exceptional quality has been achieved through years of testing and using the latest advancements in fiber extraction methods. Banana Sylk is fine and soft, similar in quality to silkworm silk, however these natural textiles can be machine washed and do not require toxic dry-cleaning methods.

Our textiles are dyed with either GOTS accredited dyes or hand dyed using pure plant based dyes, therefore when you start with a plant fiber that is technically “waste” from a food crop, we believe that the Banana fibre’s water consumption starts at zero when we began creating the fabric.

These natural fibres absorb the dyes much better than cotton therefore less water waste, and the water from the plant dyes are used to irrigate fields surrounding the facility creating a closed loop system.
