TENCEL™ Lyocell and Modal fibers transform textiles to meet everyday consumer needs. Derived from the sustainably sourced renewable raw material wood, and produced by environmentally responsible processes, TENCEL™ branded cellulosic fibers are compostable and biodegradable. In 2017, the pioneering REFIBRA™ technology was developed involving the upcycling of cotton scraps from garment production. These cotton scraps are transformed into cotton pulp. A substantial proportion – up to one third – of this is added to wood pulp, and the combined raw material is transformed to produce new virgin TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers to make fabrics and garments.

In 2020, TENCEL™ continues its journey to True Carbon Zero, contributing to a carbon neutral textile industry. With a vision to have net-zero emissions by 2050, our three-step plan is already in action: reduce, engage and offset. The resulting carbon-zero TENCEL™ Lyocell and Modal fibers are certified as CarbonNeutral® products by Natural Capital Partners.
