Forager™
- Mycelium
Forager materials, developed by Ecovative, represent a significant innovation in the fashion industry. These materials are USDA certified 100% biobased, crafted from mushroom mycelium, which ensures they are sustainable and free from synthetic components. Forager Hides are particularly beneficial to fashion designers and brands due to their versatility and superior performance. Our mycelium canvas, what we refer to as a Forager mcyelium hide, allows a wide array of textures, colors, and finishes to meet specific brand aesthetics. Additionally, these hides thoroughly absorb dyes and pigments in less time than animal hides, requiring less time and energy in the tanning process, which enhances both energy and water efficiency.
Ecovative’s expertise in mycelium technology is unparalleled, with over 17 years of innovation and a robust portfolio of commercialized products. Their AirMycelium™ growth chambers produce large format sheets of mycelium, capable of yielding up to one million square feet of Forager Hides per acre annually. This efficient production process, combined with the company’s commitment to sustainability, results in materials that are not only durable and aesthetically pleasing but also fully compostable and ocean-safe. Ecovative’s advanced use of artificial intelligence in their development processes further accelerates production cycles and reduces waste, making them a leader in the creation of eco-friendly fashion materials. Through collaboration with brand partners and leveraging existing leather manufacturing infrastructure, Ecovative ensures that their Forager materials integrate seamlessly into traditional supply chains, offering a sustainable and innovative solution for the fashion industry.
Ecovative works with fashion brands both large and small, as well as independent designers and students.
