On Tuesday, April 2nd the CFDA served as one of the sponsors for the 10th annual Jeffrey Fashion Cares event on board the Intrepid in New York City. The CFDA staff attended the event which began with a special introduction by actress and YouthAIDS advocate, Emmy Rossum, whom served as host for the evening. And someone who’s no stranger to the spotlight, Cyndi Lauper also greeted guests and honored Tony Award winning choreographer Jerry Mitchell with the Community Leadership Award for his ongoing work with Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Following a live auction guests were treated to a men’s fashion show featuring designs from Burberry, Givenchy, Lanvin, Gucci, and more. The night raised over $800, 000 through donations, ticket sales, and a silent and live auction, highlighting just one of the ways a philanthropic mission can partner seamlessly with fashion. The funds raised will support the ongoing work of four important charities: AIDS Community Research Initiative of America, Point Foundation, Hetrick-Martin Institute, and Lambda Legal.
