In an unprecedented partnership, retailers Neiman Marcus and Target this week announced plans for a massive limited edition holiday collection featuring specially made items designed by twenty-four CFDA designers.
The line, which will be called The Target + Neiman Marcus Holiday Collection when it launches on December 1st, is the first of its kind in sense it will be sold simultaneously in both Neiman Marcus and Target stores across the country, and features a wide range of established brands, such as Marc Jacobs, Carolina Herrera and Oscar de la Renta, as well as younger indie labels, like Rodarte, Band of Outsiders and Proenza Schouler.
Although details of exactly what will be available are yet to be revealed, prices are said to range from between $7.99 and $499, with most items coming in at less than $60.
Many of the members involved, such as Rodarte and Jason Wu, have already partnered with Target on successful design collaborations, and in gesture of early good will towards the CFDA, both Target and Neiman Marcus are donating a total of $1 million to the organization.
“I can’t think of a better finale to the CFDA’s 50th anniversary celebration,” CFDA president Diane von Fustenberg told Women’s Wear Daily. “As designers, creativity is our best gift, and with the generous support of Neiman Marcus and Target, we are happy to have created specially designed products as a thank you to share with our customers and friends.”
