The best way to immerse yourself in a global retail market is to visit and engage with it. To meet with the reputable designers, fashion directors, and retail leaders that sustain the fashion landscape. To build lasting relationships with these fashion luminaries. It’s these ideologies that the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund China Exchange program has seen to fruition. Through the generous support of Silas Chou, the CFDA is in the second iteration of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund China Exchange program, whereby American designers strengthen fashion-relations in China while at the same time, Chinese designers immerse themselves in America to do the same.
This month, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund welcomes Chinese designer, Masha Ma to New York for two weeks. Throughout her stay, Masha will obtain a crash course in American fashion from the people and companies that can provide an invaluable education best. By the end of these two weeks, Masha will obtain keen insight into the U.S. fashion retail market by focusing on merchandising, sales, and e-commerce. Companies such as Barneys NY, Michael Kors, Bergdorf Goodman, Tory Burch, Saks Fifth Avenue, Amazon, Theory, Tommy Hilfiger, and Vogue have all created customized schedules for Masha’s time here. To become acquainted with Masha’s designs, peruse her collections from Fall 2013 above.
