New York Fashion Week is not just a showcase for ready-to-wear designers, accessory designers also get their fair play. Whether it’s at a presentation or preview of their wares or contributing products to a runway show or even collaborating with RTW designers themselves to create special pieces, Fashion Week can be a great time for scoping our accessories designers. We’ve kept our eyes open and found a few of the many.
Loeffler Randall shoes for Costello Tagliapietra show Albertus Swanepoel was super busy – creating hats and head gear for Richard Chai’s men, Alexander Wang, Rachel Antonoff and Peter Som. Alejandro Ingelmo collaborated with both Cushnie et Ochs and Elise Overland, creating platform shoes with tough hardware. Alexis Bittar provided chokers of big balls for Michael Kors, as well as collaborating with Michael Angel, Dennis Basso and Gottex. Dean Harris created “Star” earrings and “Roller Coaster” cuffs for Derek Lam. Edmundo Castillo collaborated with Narciso Rodriguez to make modern, sexy shoes and with Tommy Hilfiger creating great sandals. Janis by Janis Savitt created jewelry for Ralph Lauren using pink and blue stones, diamonds and pearls. Loeffler Randall partnered with Costello Tagliapietra showing a flat, lace-up boot and a high heeled ankle boot in patent snake. Nancy Geist collaborated with Amy Smilovic to create turquoise and taupe suede shoes for Tibi.
Patricia Underwood converted weathered overalls into caps at Ralph Lauren and also made hats for Oscar de la Renta. Philip Crangi collaborated with Shipley-Halmos on jewelry this season. Robert Lee Morris provided jewelry for Christian Siriano’s runway show. Selima Salaun collaborated with Catherine Malandrino making hats, and Daniel Silver from Duckie Brown to create glasses that fit the show’s “American Gigolo” theme.
