Sisters-in-law Veronica Miele Beard and Veronica Swanson Beard combined their respective
backgrounds in finance and fashion to launch Veronica Beard with the Fall 2010 Collection.
Endlessly brainstorming voids in the market, the Veronicas kept coming back to the concept of
“The Uniform” and the quest to simplify dressing for women who, like themselves, do it all.
Between the two of them, they are raising eight children in New York City while growing a fashion
house. Their iconic jacket with interchangeable dickeys catapulted the Brand into a full, ready-towear
American sportswear label in which each piece is a vital cornerstone of a woman’s wardrobe.
Miele Beard graduated from Franklin & Marshall College and studied in Florence, Italy before
beginning her career on Wall Street. After a brief stint working for Ron Galotti at Vogue, Miele
Beard returned to finance, helping to launch Coatue Capital LLC, a technology hedge fund where
she became a partner and COO. The formative time spent in a “man’s world” cultivated her desire
to empower women through their individual style. Swanson Beard arrived at this same insight
through a different, yet equally valuable perspective. Her experiences growing up between
Florida, London and California ignited her acute appreciation of fashion. After studying at Tulane
University, she attended Parsons School of Design before beginning her career in wholesale at
Narciso Rodriguez and then Alberta Ferretti. Swanson Beard went on to become a buyer for
Marissa Collections in Naples, Florida where she honed in on her ability to spot and shape market
The synergy between Swanson Beard’s classic sensibility and Miele Beard’s eclectic edge creates a
multi-layered approach to dressing a woman for the many facets of her life. The success of the
Brand lies in the truth that they design for a woman they know well, the Veronicas literally walk in
her shoes. In their own words, “we are our customer.”
