Florentine native Sofia Sizzi began her career in fashion at the age of twenty, winning a design position at Gucci. In 2001 Sizzi moved to New York and continued as a leading shoe and accessories designer for Donna Karan, and later Calvin Klein Collection. Using this extensive background, Sofia launched her own design consulting company, Imagina, in 2009 focusing on the luxury market. After working in the industry for over ten years, Sizzi decided to embrace her ready-to-wear dream by launching her own label, Giulietta. “Sizzi had a remarkable ability to define herself from the first collection” stated Barneys New York at the Giulietta Fall 2012 show.
With a passion for 1960’s cinematography, Sizzi often finds inspiration from vintage films. Mixing vintage techniques with modern silhouettes, her collections appear nostalgic yet timeless. As Style.com states, “Sizzi’s quiet willingness to do what she loves and not feel pressured into grand statements speaks volumes, and clearly people are paying attention.”
