The CFDA Fashion Incubator 3.0 class
Yara grew up in New York City and went on to study Studio Art at Oberlin College where she first discovered her inclination towards fashion design, though through multimedia sculptures and installations. Upon graduation she began working at the Fondazione Prada on the production of cultural events and art catalogues for the iconic fashion house Prada. She decided to pursue design more seriously and interned at the New York fashion label United Bamboo while she began working on her first capsule collection. It is after her studies in draping at FIT that Yara was able to materialize her signature sculptural, streamlined designs and continue to refine them. Since founding her label she has received press accolades and distinctions from Vogue, Style.com, T Magazine, The Last Magazine, GenArt, MADE Fashion Week, W Hotels Fashion Next among others.
As the designer of NOMIA, she continues to explore the juxtaposition of masculine and feminine to critical and commercial acclaim, selling to selective boutiques such as Creatures of Comfort, Totokaelo, The Webster, and Fivestory among others.
