Tory Burch Mentorship Award

In our commitment to supporting young designers we have partnered with CFDA Member Tory Burch  to create the Tory Burch Mentorship Award,  which provides the winning student with a unique opportunity to supplement academic learning with first-hand industry experience at one of the world’s most recognized design brands.

Teslin Doud was named the winner of the first annual Tory Burch Mentorship Award. Teslin is an environmentally conscious designer from California currently studying fashion at Parsons The New School for Design. See more from Teslin here.

Tory raved about Teslin saying she”is incredibly talented and our team is looking forward to helping her realize her enormous potential. The Tory Burch team is “thrilled to be partnering with the CFDA on a program to provide design students with hands-on exposure to the industry and to the challenges and rewards of designing a collection.”

As part of her year-long mentorship, Teslin will produce a collection with guidance from the Tory Burch team, including a trip to Première Vision in Paris to select fabric. In addition, she will receive two professionally constructed ready-to-wear pieces for her senior year thesis collection.

About the Tory Burch Mentorship Award:

CFDA presented this opportunity to its 20 Participating Fashion Design Schools across the United States in January 2014. Each department chair selected their top three applicants to submit a portfolio to the CFDA for the Tory Burch Mentorship Award. Candidates were charged with designing a Fall/Winter 2015 Tory Burch inspired womenswear collection around the theme “American chic casual sportswear”.
