2014 Woolmark Prize

As the global authority on Merino wool, The Woolmark Company works with the global textile and fashion industries at every level, developing better textiles and driving consumer demand. The Woolmark Company invests heavily in research and development, advancing the fiber and inspiring the world’s leading fashion designers to craft garments from Merino wool. The CFDA serves as the official nominating body of the USA Region of the International Woolmark Prize. Globally, the award is supported by key fashion councils including IMG Australia, British Fashion Council, Chambre Syndicale de la Couture and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid.

The USA nominees for the 2014/15 International Woolmark Prize include 10 impressive names from the Fashion Industry, as the competition expanded this year to include a menswear category. The USA nominees are:

The USA regional award will be held on July 15, 2014 where the designers will present sketches of a Merino wool capsule collection comprising six outfits, with one full outfit being produced. The collections will be judged by a panel of local and international experts who will soon be announced. The winners of the USA womenswear and the USA menswear competition will each receive AU$50,000 (US$47,000) towards their next collection as well as an invitation to participate in the international final.

 

The International Woolmark prize is comprised of a total of five regional competitions being held, in Asia, Australia, Europe, India (& Middle East) and the USA. The winning menswear finalists from each region will meet at London Collections in January 2015 and the five regional womenswear finalists will meet in Beijing in March 2015.
