Biography

He’s not the youngest designer to be honored for a lifetime of work in the fashion industry (his friend Anna Sui was, winning at the tender age of 44), but he certainly is the most winning. With nine Trovas already clamoring for attention somewhere in his design studio, his Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award brings his total to a nice, round 10. Still, he could leave the awards ceremony on Monday, June 6 with the bonus award of being named Womenswear Designer of the Year. No wonder this prodigious designer responded to the news he was being honored for his work by saying it should only be considered a “half-lifetime achievement award.” Keep up the good work.
