In commemoration of Earth Day, the CFDA tapped James Perkins to photograph a series of still images and videos of the 2012 CFDA/Lexus Eco-Fashion Challenge winners: Pamela Love, Melissa Joy Manning, and Victoria Bartlett. James received a BA from Yale University and is currently working on his Masters from SVA School of Visual Arts in fashion photography while focusing on fine art works.
His works seek to reclaim and explore the human experience in the face of a technology driven popular culture via portraiture study and revisiting the heritage of American pop art. James and his creative work have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, CNBC, ABC, FOX Business, Institutional Investor, Entrepreneur Magazine, Teen Vogue, Financial Times-Germany, New York Magazine, Page 6 Magazine, New York Post, Smart Money, and MAXIM among others.
His collaborations have included: Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessey (LVMH) brands such as Thomas Pink, Sephora, Belvedere, The Standard Hotels, Betsey Johnson, Scott Campbell, Wendy Nichol, Giorgio Deluca, and Colette Paris. James also founded and led the creative direction of FLATTmagazine, Thrasher Funds, and was an on air presenter for FOX Business’ “Perkins’ Picks” segment, explaining how money, music, fashion, and culture impact businesses, brands and inform investing.
His work is currently being shown for The Eileen Kaminsky Foundation’s show, “2X2” at MAMA Contemporary Arts.
