In honor of Earth Day, April 22, 2013, MONIQUE PÉAN planted 100 trees in India for every individual piece of MONIQUE PÉAN jewelry that was purchased from any domestic retailer. MONIQUE PÉAN has partnered with Trees for the Future to provide species suitable for Tamil Nadu’s degraded high-clay soil. With an emphasis placed on planting fast-growing, multipurpose species to supply a range of products, the trees are expected to generate fruit for people and supplement farmers’ nominal income. These trees will also help provide clean air and resources for the future.Trees for the Future is a non-profit organization that has planted trees in thousands of communities around the world since 1989. These trees provide food, fertilizer and medicine for farmers as well as biodiversity for the landscape. Trees for the Future works to restore life to land that was previously degraded or abandoned. Trees for the Future provides seeds and training to locals on a variety of agroforestry and livestock management techniques.
