An important component of the CFDA’s Professional Development Masters Workshop with NYU Stern is to immerse the participating MBA students into the world of fashion. What better place to begin than seeing the production process at a factory in New York City’s Garment District? Industry advisor, Lisa Metcalfe took the four MBA students who are working with Zero + Maria Cornejo this semester, to the Four Seasons factory for a tour.
“Touring the factory with Lisa was an irreplaceable experience. I saw the pinnacle of fashion being cut and stitched, and my tour guide was on a first name basis with everyone on the factory floor—from the managers to a visiting executive from one of the biggest luxury brands in the world,” said Stern MBA student Christopher Marcal.
“The experience gave us invaluable insight into some of the challenges our designer is currently facing as well as the ability to determine benchmarks for best practices within the industry,” added Stern MBA student Kay Schneider.
