The Woolmark Company and Harper’s Bazaar co-hosted a cocktail party at Hearst Tower to celebrate the USA nominees for the 2014/2015 International Woolmark Prize. Bazaar’s Glenda Bailey and Laura Brown congratulated womenswear finalists: Jonathan Simkhai, M.PATMOS, Nonoo, Rosie Assoulin and WHIT and menswear finalists: a.a. antonio azzuolo, OVADIA & SONS, PUBLIC SCHOOL, Timo Weiland and Todd Snyder.
The Woolmark Company’s Michelle Lee announced the USA regional judging panel which includes: Steven Kolb, CEO of the CFDA, Alexander Wang, Creative Director, Alexander Wang, Inc. and Balenciaga, Malcom Carfrae, Executive VP and Chief Communications Officer of Calvin Klein, Inc., Ariel Foxman, Editor at InStyle, Eric Jennings, VP and Fashion Director Menswear, Home, Food & Gifts at Saks Fifth Avenue, Michelle Lee, Director – Americas at The Woolmark Co., Colleen Sherin, Senior Fashion Director at Saks Fifth Avenue, Stefano Tonchi, Editor-in-Chief of W Magazine, and David Granger, Editor-in-Chief of Esquire.
The International Woolmark Prize USA regional award winners will be announced on July 14, 2014 when the designers will present sketches of a Merino wool capsule collection comprising six outfits, with one full outfit being produced. The winners of the USA womenswear and the USA menswear competition will each receive AU$50,000 (US$47,000) towards their next collection as well as an invitation to participate in the international final. The International Woolmark Prize is comprised of a total of five regional competitions being held in Asia, Australia, Europe, India (& Middle East) and the USA. The winning menswear finalists from each region will meet at London Collections: Men in January 2015 and the five regional womenswear finalists will meet in Beijing in March 2015.
