Biography:
American fashion designer Reed Krakoff’s most recent venture in his now twenty-year career is an eponymous line of women’s ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes and accessories. The Reed Krakoff collection boldly defines a new American luxury sportswear where modernity meets femininity and utility meets sophistication.

Krakoff, a Connecticut native, received a degree in Fashion Design from Parsons The New School of Design in New York and went on to work for iconic American design companies like Anne Klein and Ralph Lauren. In 1996, Krakoff Joined Coach and was later named President and Executive Creative Director.

In his dual roles at Coach and Reed Krakoff, Krakoff spearheads all design and brand image activity. He has been widely recognized for revitalizing the image of Coach while keeping it true to its American heritage. Krakoff’s contributions to the industry have moreover been recognized by his peers: he was elected Vice President of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) in 2007, a role in which he remained for three years, and was awarded the CFDA award for Accessory Designer of the Year in both 2001 and 2004 for his work at Coach. In 2011, Krakoff was honored by Parsons for his achievements as a fashion designer and industry leader. In the same year, he was nominated by the CFDA as Accessory Designer of the Year for his namesake label. This marks Krakoff’s second nomination in the same category.

A Moment with Reed…
My first job in fashion was…
an unpaid internship at Anne Klein.
Starting out in the fashion industry was…
not something my parents wanted me to do.
Each season I…
try to move forward without reference to the past
One of the few times I have been star struck was…
when I met Miles Davis. I was working as a sales person at Versace on Madison Ave while attending Parsons.
One of my biggest sources of inspiration is…
my wife.
Success for me is…
getting paid to do what I love
Whenever I can I go…
I go to a place to hide with my wife and children.
I
always sketch during… boring meetings.
Inspiration often comes…
anywhere at any time.
My words to live by are…
There is never anything wrong with hard work.
