Fashion is anything but insular. Whether you’re part of the school that celebrates fashion for its artistic value or appreciates its entrepreneurial spirit, there’s no denying that it’s a global tour-de-force. In an effort to foster international initiatives, Silas Chou has generously underwritten a program through the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, which allows the exchange of emerging designers between the United States and China. This entire week the CFDA and Vogue Magazine, along with 3 prior CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists, Proenza Schouler, Rag & Bone, and Marchesa, are immersing themselves in Beijing. The talented team of designers will not only attend a reception at the home of U.S. ambassador to China, Gary Locke and his wife’s home, and a dinner hosted by Vogue China’s Editor-in-Chief, Angelica Cheung, but they will also present a runway show this Friday, at the Ming Dynasty City Wall.
