13 Questions for CFDA Swarovski Womenswear Nominees

In honor of the CFDA’s 13 year partnership with Swarovski, we sat down with this year’s CFDA Swarovski Womenswear nominees and asked them 13 burning questions.  See what wisdom Wes Gordon, Rosie Assoulin, and Shane and Chris of Creatures of the Wind had to share below…

Wes Gordon Quote

1.    What do you wish you’d known when you were starting out?
Less is more and better is better.

2.    What is one piece of advice you’d give someone just starting out?

Be completely true to yourself- always.  Ninety-percent of the time when you like a dress, other people will like it too.  And, if they don’t, that’s okay.

3.    What inspires you on a daily basis?

The amazing women that I’m lucky enough to know.

4.    How do you choose your collection theme each season?

Its a combination of what I’m excited about at that moment as well as an evolution and continuation of the story I was telling the previous season.  I never like a collection to be too themed- my goal is that it feels fresh and relevant for as long as possible and themes can make that difficult.

5.    What is the next step for you with your collection?
One day at a time!  I’m so lucky to come to work each day and do what i love. I feel that each collection becomes a better expression of who I am.
